Increase in thefts from store rooms

Asmace warns of a 400% growth in incidents due to theft from store rooms in Madrid

Store rooms have evolved over the years and have become places in which more and more valuable objects are stored: bicycles, skis, snowboards, paddle and tennis rackets, etc. These are just some of the items that are kept in this type of store, all of them of considerable economic value, which has not escaped the notice of thieves, as shown by the fact that there are more and more cases of theft in these areas of shared buildings.

According to data from Asmace (Madrid Association of Locksmiths), in December incidents related to theft in store rooms increased by 400% in the Community of Madrid, which currently makes this trend one of the main concerns of the locksmith sector. Asmace therefore insists on the need to prevent and protect these spaces.

In this regard, one of the main weaknesses of store rooms is the door, given that neither the structure nor the locks that equip them are usually secure. That’s why they recommend installing security doors that comply with the regulations.

At TESA ASSA ABLOY we also saw this need, which is why we developed the Bunker armoured door with the aim of offering a safe but at the same time affordable solution for the growing demand for security in store rooms. With Grade 2 security according to the EN 1627 anti-burglary standard, the Bunker armoured door for store rooms comes as standard with a security closing kit (the T60 anti-bumping cylinder with thumbturn together with the E700 security escutcheon). It has three locking points with 18 mm bolts, two adjustable security hinges and four anti-lever pivots and is available in two finishes: white and galvanised steel. In summary, it is a barrier for thieves since it makes access much more difficult than a simple store room door.
