TESA ASSA ABLOY removes the retaining hook from its armoured doors in search of greater security

The national leader in locking and access control solutions has decided to increase the level of security and robustness of its range of armoured doors by removing this component that was used to partially open the door and see who was outside. Instead, we are launching a promotion through which a digital peephole can be added to the armoured door at an exclusive price during 2019.

A door is safe when it is fully closed. Once opened, even partially, it offers an opportunity for potential intruders. That’s why TESA ASSA ABLOY has decided to eliminate the retaining hook to eradicate this old practice, for the benefit of user safety. In this way, we aim to go further in our efforts to make the user aware of the risk involved in opening the door without knowing who is outside, offering a safer and more easy to use alternative than the traditional hook: the digital peephole, at an exclusive RRP of €49 throughout 2019.

Digital peepholes display an image of the person behind the door, safely identifying visitors before you open it. They are easy to use for all members of the family, since it is just a case of pressing a button to turn it on and off, and they allow you to see with a very sharp and clear image who is at the door.

In this way, TESA ASSA ABLOY intends to eliminate a well-established custom that nowadays no longer makes sense given the options offered by the technological developments and innovations that are taking place in the sector. The message is clear: don’t open the door if you don’t know who is outside.

Either the door slams shut or it stays half open, or needs to be pushed hard to open it, or it breaks on a regular basis, etc. Main entrance doors are the source of many complaints in most communities of residents. The root cause of these incidents is usually an essential component: the door closer. It is a component that is responsible for the essential task of automatically and safely closing high traffic doors, but which largely goes unnoticed by the general public.
