TESA is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year
For any company, reaching 75 is undoubtedly a landmark. TESA ASSA ABLOY was founded in 1941 and thanks to our expertise, our ability to adapt to organizational and social changes throughout the years and the strong dedication shown by our workforce, we are still going! For 75 years we have worked hard, constantly innovating and developing the best safety and locking solutions demanded by the market. This is a good occasion to feel proud of belonging to the company's history - we are all have a part in it.
Currently located in Irún, TESA ASSA ABLOY was founded 75 years ago in Eskoriaza (Gipuzkoa). Although the company was initially called Talleres de Eskoriaza, S.A. and focused on the manufacturing of fittings for travel bags, its later development has been marked by constant transformations in order to adapt to the evolution of the market and society in general.
During the history there has been some important milestones like in 1947, the company began to manufacture locks for buildings; the opening of the new headquarters in Irún in 1970; or the launch in 1980 of the first electronic lock, the HT10, becoming a world leader in the electronic hotel lock segment at the beginnings of the nineties.
Another quantum leap took place in 2001. TESA becomes TESA ASSA ABLOY after its integration in the largest multinational group in the locking solution industry. This decade is witness to the development of increasingly innovative technologies that resulted in such landmark products as the RFID-enabled electronic lock for hotels, the SMARTair™ access control platform, the MARE NOSTRUM exit panic device platform, the Wireless SMARTairTM access control system… New products whose launch coincides in time with the company’s international expansion via delegations in Dubai and Panama.
In recent years, TESA ASSA ABLOY has further developed its product portfolio with such additions as the TK100 cylinder, the first ever high security cylinder featuring the 'Drop orbital' technology. At the same time, the company has strengthened links with distributors and users thanks to such initiatives as the TESA Academy, which provides specialized training for experts and improves.
