Sustainability

Sustainability is one of the key drivers of the ASSA ABLOY value chain. It is a key element in the areas of innovation, purchasing, production and employee development.

Since 2005, ASSA ABLOY has published an annual sustainability report based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines. This enables the Group to monitor its key performance indicators, make continuous improvements and reduce its energy footprint wherever possible.

What is CSR?

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to the ongoing commitment of companies to act responsibly by voluntarily integrating social and environmental concerns into their business operations.

Beyond mere regulatory compliance, CSR examines how companies manage their economic, social and environmental impact, as well as their relationships with stakeholders (employees, business partners, governments, etc.).

EcoVadis

Founded in 2007, EcoVadis is today the largest recognized provider that has defined the standard for assessing corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility. Its CSR performance assessment platform, used by more than 500,000 companies in 175 different countries, has established measurement criteria in four areas:

  • Ethical: fight against fraud and corruption, data protection, etc.
  • Social: respect for human rights, gender equality, improvement of employees' working conditions, etc.
  • Environment: reduction of energy consumption and discharges in the form of pollution and waste, commitment to biodiversity and sustainable development, etc.
  • Responsible purchasing: taking into account environmental, social and ethical criteria when choosing suppliers.

Its methodology is based on international CSR standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and ISO 26000, and covers no fewer than 200 purchasing categories and more than 175 countries.
